I know it can have problems running under XP - I think it tries to write to areas of the disk that XP would rather you didn't if you're just a bog-standard user. There are 2 ways round this problem - either install it AND run it under an XP session that has Administrator level permissions; or - right click the icon, go to the compatibility tab and check the box to run in Windows 95 mode. The last is by memory since I'm afraid I use option 1 & run my normal XP sessions under an Admin level sign-on. However - not sure from what you say if this is your issue. I've just tried to install my old Win95 viewer on a new XP machine, and the disc is not seen. Is an XP version available, or must we use an old machine for the census discs? -- Denys Wells
