    3. I attended the funeral of one of my aunts in Glamorgan in 1968, and the second and third legs of the funeral were an all-male event, save that one or two women, not family members, appeared at the church (the second leg) and the harmonium-player there was female. The women remained at the house (where the first leg had taken place); after all, someone had to make the sandwiches. It seems from a press report that much the same happened when one of her sisters died in 1950 or 1951. However more recent funerals of aunts and uncles have been attended by both sexes, though one aunt remained at the house during her husband's funeral, but possibly more through mobility difficulties than from any other cause. 3. Hi Jeremy, Been watching this thread and tend to agree with your statement... "The women remained at the house (where the first leg had taken place); after all, someone had to make the sandwiches." Think you hit the nail on the head.
