Has anyone had problems with searching the 1881 Census on the Ancestry site for individuals born in Lincolnshire? I have not been able to get any search results for any surname I have tried with the additional criteria of born Lincolnshire. Searches without the county name specified does show that there are of course rather a lot of individuals that were born in the county. Incidentally, searching without a name but just by the birthplace of "Lincolnshire" produces only 10 names. I have logged two queries about this problem over the last few months and get the reply "under investigation". I am aware of the other sources of the 1881 census but it is usually more convenient to try Ancestry particularly if wanting other census years at the same time. Regards David Tappin

Hi David and others I know you said that you know there are other sources but I will confirm that if you use www.familyhistoryonline.net then you definitely can search the index for 1881 and Lincolnshire. Use FamilyHistoryOnline's free search (yes you do have to register but no personal details, credit card details etc are required) and then use the reference folio/page numbers to go straight to the image on Ancestry. And whilst you are on the FamilyHistoryOnline site try searching for some of your other FH "wants" you may be pleasantly pleased to find something else of interest - remember they have far the greatest amount of burials than anywhere else.
