    3. 01.00 2.12.2005 In an e-mail receiver by me on 20 November the Genealogy Officer of the SOG wrote some notes including the following :- " There are proposals to add extra information e.g. on death certificates (widows details as well as widowers) and record name changes. GRO says it wants secondary legislation to make minor changes to what is recorded. This might be an opportunity for family historians to request more significant changes such as the addition of dates of births and marriage of parents on a birth certificate, or marriage details on death certificates. " I hold a Scottish Marriage Certificate dated 21 December 1866, and have thought for some how helpful it would be if England and Wales could adopt the Scottish model.. It included not only the names, ages, occupations and marital status, addresses of both parties, but also in addition to the names and occupations of both fathers, the names AND MAIDEN SURNAMES of both mothers.
