I agree it would be good to have a way of identifying fellow members. Back in the Harrington Gardens days newly elected members where published in the Magazine. There was also a mail facility where members could receive and exchange post in the common room, very useful saving the cost of posting bulky documents. The society could indeed even produce a directory of members with contact details and genealogical interests. I suppose there would have to be a facility for members who valued their privacy to excluded themselves from being listed. I can communicate with people for years without knowing they belong to the Society of Genealogists. Very occasionally I recognize the name of someone in the Magazine's Recently Deceased Members column, but that is the only way now of knowing they were a member. A way of knowing other members interests through the Magazine is the Birth Briefs section, now without a contact address. That has included so few submissions recently (2 in Sept. edition) which surely can't be used as a list of all new members? From Merryl Wells of Luton, Beds.
