Good evening, I have an amateur (rough) transcription of an Adoption Order from the Sussex Petty Sessional Division of Steyning in 1938 where the applicants were stated to be at "Burchett House Brighton Lancing" and the child was an infant at "Burchett Home of Brighton". The order gives the names of the new parents and I have identified them. It also gives the birth name date of birth, mother's name/age. The natural mother was still alive, so we could be talking of a children's home. I also have the Birth Certificate for the adopted child - but have yet to find the original record of the child's birth. I am looking for two things: 1) Confirmation of what Burchett(e) House was 2) Something that would help me identify the infant from the records I have carried out an initial trawl of the Internet - including the on-line index of Kew - but have found no evidence of any such house / home. Can someone please advise me of the way forward? Chris
