You CAN look at many Gale newspaper resources at home in a quite significant number of instances. Many English county library services (but not all of them) have taken out subscriptions to the Times Digital Archive and/or to 19th Century British Library Newspapers, which allow free access upon typing in the barcode (no spaces) from your reader's ticket. Registering for membership of county libraries is usually a simple enough process. Your county library website will normally tell you which online resources are available in your area. Welsh residents may also obtain home access if they hold a reader's ticket for the National Library of Wales (although this requires a visit to Aberystwyth in person). AJ
