The addition to our access to newspapers is welcome, but the British Newspaper Archive will only be a useful addition to Gale's 19th Century Newspapers, not replace it despite the overlapping of titles. Searching for 'Isaac Ayton' in the 'Newcastle Courant' I found: Gale: 28 items BNA: 21 items All between 1821 and 1853. Of which, 16 were in both, 12 found in Gale but not the BNA and 5 found in the BNA and not in Gale. It's a bit like census indexes. If you don't find the entry in one, try another.     3. Can you please advise if Gale is open to the private user. Having visited the site and it appears you have to belong to an institution of some sort.
