    3. No, it's not a contract, but a perfectly valid will. I know this from our solicitor's advice when my wife had made a will shortly before we married: so long as the will stipulates it is made in contepmplation of matrimony, it is valid. If I had left her in the lurch at the registry office, which I didn't, she would have needed to make a new will anyway.
