    3. Can any member help or know of anyone who can? Perhaps reply off list to the person asking. Michael Williamson Society of Genealogists (Enterprises) Ltd Hello, I am attempting to update and produce a family tree at very short notice for my Grandfather's 100th birthday party on the 19th March, from work begun by my late Father and I am looking for someone who can produce a display copy from my draft being produced in Word (using Word's diagram function from my late father's notes). Does the society have any members or know of any organisations that could take on a commission at short notice? Many Thanks, Andy Brittan Andy.Brittan@dwp.gsi.gov.uk Head of Housing and Fraud Research Children and Housing Analysis Division (CHAD) Department for Work and Pensions Rm 520, Adelphi 1-11 John Adam Street London WC2N 6HT Tel: +44 (0)20 7962 8944 Fax: +44 (0)20 7962 8359

Whether or not you 'cough up' rather depends on how useful and/valuable you consider the SoG to be. For myself, I manage to get there perhaps a dozen times a year which, together with the magazine and Origins access, I think is excellent value for money. You pays yer money and takes yer choice :-) This is not to defend incompetent administration, by the way. John B Leic., Eng

    3. Just checked & it's not just you. Mine hasn't been collected either, but the mandate is there on my account details. I too paid by cheque last year and signed a new mandate. I was told there has been a temporary problem that had resulted in some details being lost. What on earth is going wrong? I've paid and collected direct debits for years but never come across this elsewhere. 3. Thank you for that suggestion, Edna and Ken, I searched London+weather+1810 and came up with some super information which I can use to illustrate our family history. Among the handed down anecdotes we have a story that GGG John TONG (a Brushmaker) came to London from Bristol at a time when their was a Frost Fair on The Thames. He was born 1793 in Bristol and the river was frozen in 1811 so it gives a 'probable' date for his arrival. He married Mary Ann WEST at St. Pancras Old Church and they had a family at No.2 Long Yard, Off Conduit Street, in Holborn. He may have been a Journeyman Brushmaker in early days and later worked for KENTS. Many thanks, Joan Vinall Many thanks.
