    3. Hi: I've just dutifully completed the questionnaire that arrived with the last issue of Gen Mag. There was no explicit place for general comments, but I nevertheless added some - the final one being the (I'm afraid largely rhetorical) question: Why weren't any on-line means provided for answering the questionnaire. 1. Access to SoG data at originsnetwork.com
    2. Over the weekend I have had 4 queries about how to access the SOG data at origin as the links on http://www.originsnetwork.com/help/popup-aboutbo-sog.htm do not appear to work. I have posted a workarrounf at www.sog.org.uk/eochange.html (which is the link on the former page to the SoG website. I have asked origins to look into the error. I can confirm that since the 3rd quarter of 2005 only the SoG data on origins is included in the Members free 72hour per quarter access. If you decide to pay for the other dataset use the affiliate link on www.sog.org.uk so the Society get a small percentage of what you pay to origins. The same deal applies on the other affiliate links. Chris Chris Broomfield, Webmaster, Society of Genealogists, London webmaster@sog.org.uk www.sog.org.uk Search the Library Catalogue from home. Use www.sog.org.uk/sogcat/ On-line retail shopping? Use www.buy.at/genealogists our affiliate shop and SoG gains funds at no cost to you

Hallo, I've just activated my free SOG session with British Origins and find that I am unable to access either of the censuses, either of the Yorks Wills indexes, the Inheritance disputes or the Militia Attestations. I wonder if anyone else has had this problem or is able to help/advise me. This is the second time I have had problems of access and have lost my free session, although in the past I have been able to get the census and the wills Thanks for any help, Rosemary

    3. If you're umming and ahhing over whether to buy a book listed on the ABEbooks website, buy it now or forever hold your peace! In ABEbooks search results, a number of book descriptions from different booksellers around the world now include this rather dark warning, worded identically each time: "From 1st April, commission hikes will force us to increase prices by some 13.5%. Deal direct; buy and sell with confidence." The following website might serve as a start to researching this situation. http://www.americanaexchange.com/NewAE/aemonthly/letters/list.asp?page=1 Regards, Lawrence Greenall. -- No virus found in this outgoing message. 3. I believe the TFD, to which you refer, was the Territorial Force Decoration awarded to Officers after 12 Years(?) service. The Territorial Force was the pre 1914 volunteer reserve army which subsequently became the Territorial Army (TA). The Decoration (TD) continues to be awarded to Officers of the TA after 12 years service with active service counting double. 2. Geoff Riggs
    3. What modesty prevented Frank from adding is that he gave the eulogy at the service, and did so in a warm and homely manner sprinkled with light-hearted touches. He struck just the right note in a manner that was extremely appropriate to a Service of Thanksgiving for Marjorie's life (or rather her Life, since she lived it with a capital L!). It wasn't a Memorial Service, because Marjorie didn't need one - our memories of her will take a long time to fade.
