With the blessing of the good folks at the Godfrey, I'm letting you know that the LA Times is now active and available online. I was using it for about an hour before it was taken down for scheduled maintenance and it will be back online Sunday at 10:00 EST. FLASH: Just a quick note to let you know that two more newspapers are now online for Godfrey Scholars. -Los Angeles Times (1881-1984) and -Washington Post (1877-1988) are now online and searchable by Godfrey Scholars. Simply go to: http://www.iconn.org/cgi-bin/hquestnews/historicalnews enter your Godfrey Library card barcode number and login. You will be able to search the Los Angeles Times, Washington Post and New York Times separately or all three at the same time. These two newspapers work the same as the online edition of the New York Times (1851-2001). In all three newspapers you can search on every word, in every article even the ads. Each article is easy to download, print or save. Having these newspapers online makes it even easier for genealogists to find obituary notices, birth and wedding announcements along with biographical sketches and news stories. It has never been easier for genealogical research and the Godfrey Memorial Library is pleased to do our part to help out. For information on the other 17+ newspapers offered online by the Library see www.Godfrey.org Tom Thomas Jay Kemp Godfrey Memorial Library 134 Newfield Street Middletown, CT 06457-2534 Tel. 860.346.4375 FAX 860.347.9874 [email protected] www.Godfrey.org
Am I understanding, correctly, that the issuance of the library card is limited to Connecticut teachers and students? So far, I've been unable to obtain a 'card.'
