You may not need to rely on someone to do this lookup for you...you may be able to handle this one yourself. The LDS Family History Center can obtain microfilms for the following Los Angeles City Directories: 1907 (A - Van Loan) Los Angeles city directory ... by Los Angeles City Directory Co. The films cost only ~$3.50 to rent, so you wouldn't be out much by just giving it a try. Here's a bit more information, from the LA Public Library website: The library owns City Directories of the United States, 5,000 rolls of microfilm covering U.S. cities from 1861-1960. Microfiche directories cover earlier years. There is an eclectic set of approximately 1,200 paper directories and L.A. city directories, 1872-1942 are in both film and paper. Library staff can answer quick ready reference questions by telephone (213) 228-7400 or fax (213-228-7409). Staff cannot do genealogical research for patrons; a list of genealogical researchers for hire is available. I am looking for Lurline Hart that lived on Grand Avenue in Los Angeles in 1908. I believe "Hart" was her maiden name. She was divorced from a relative of mine so the listing could be Lurline Barbee (her married name). She was living with her mother, whose name I do not know. I'm hoping that there would be a reverse directory wherein the streets are listed alphabetically and one could look at Grand Avenue and look for any Lurline entries (in case she used her maiden name and it turns out that it isn't "Hart" after all). Any help (or suggestions) would be appreciated. Thanks. Jim _________________________________________________________________ MSN 8: Get 6 months for $9.95/month. http://join.msn.com/?page=dept/dialup
