The Consortium of Southern California Genealogical Societies met in Burbank at the SCGS library for an all-day session to discuss problems, solutions, and means of communication among the societies in Southern California. There were 52 people attending representing 19 genealogical societies in Southern California. These societies were: Antelope Valley Genealogical Society British Isles Family History Society California African-American Genealogical Society Conejo Valley Genealogical Society, Inc. Corona Genealogical Society Genealogical Society of Hispanic America Hi-Desert Genealogical Society Immigrant Genealogical Society Los Angeles Westside Genealogical Society Orange County CA Genealogical Society Palm Springs Genealogical Society Questing heirs Genealogical Society, Inc. San Bernadino Valley Genealogical Society San Fernando Valley Genealogical Society South Bay Cities Genealogical Society Southern California Genealogical Society Temecula Valley Genealogical Society Ventura County Genealogical Society Whittier Area Genealogical Society The day was extremely productive. Many innovative solutions were presented to the group from various society leaders. Participants came away with many ideas on how to improve their own genealogical society. Another goal our ours is to improve communication among our societies. The individuals who attended from the above societies are to be commended for their willingness to spend an entire Sunday to work to improve their society for their members.
