Violet was born April 19, 1912 to Charles and Dora Bankston in Mexia, Texas. She moved to Kernville and then to Bakersfield with her husband, Neil E. Kimber in the early 1940s. She resided in Bakersfield until her death at the age of 90. Violet was a homemaker most of her life, raising three children and nurturing a love of flowers. Violet is preceded in death by her husband, her parents and all six of her siblings. She leaves behind her children, Wallace Hopper and wife Linda; Shirley Hamilton and Linda Stevens; five granddaughters, Claudette Gates, Debra Pelham, Sandra Molen, Deanna Vietri, Melissa Ash and their spouses; two step-grandsons, Roger Besher and Sonny Bagnas and their spouses; 13 beloved great-grandchildren; a niece, Barbara Kromer; and brother-in-law, James Kimber and wife Barbara. Violet's family would like to thank friend and caregiver, Melissa Englen and her doctor, Dr. Frank Chang. Violet spent her last years living with her daughter, who strived to make their mom comfortable and who surrounded her with flowers. Besides a love for the outdoors and flowers, Violet was an avid reader and shopper. She spent many happy hours being wheeled down the aisles of Wal-Mart, buying whatever caught her fancy. Violet took great pleasure in sneaking dollar bills and candy to her great-grandchildren. Ma, grandma, great-grandma: As you embark on your next journey, we pray you find peace, an abundance of flowers and a Wal-Mart on every corner. You will be missed, but never forgotten.
