    3. Dear Listers, This is a note to bring you up to date on the pre-1905 CADI project, which we call the Phoenix Project. Yes, we are still here, and yes, we know there have been a lot of questions. And so I will attempt to answer some of them . Nothing much has been done on the site since last February. Our web-master became ill, and has not been able to work on it. However, during that time, Elvina, Betty and I have NOT been idle. Betty is the CHIEF PROOFER and has taken on the job of re-proofing every single file already on line, those that were being held to go online, and those that we are working on right now. Elvina is in charge of doing the drudge work of copying the films and making master copies.at least 3,000 pages so far just on Sacramento County alone!!! Elvina mails me the masters, I make a second copy to send to our dear transcribers, and send them out. A word about the transcribers: they are the most wonderful group of people I have ever had the pleasure of working with. They BEG for work!! And, they are so good and so fast. I really have to scramble to keep up with them You have them to thank for all of the records we will be putting online very soon. There are many, but I want to give special thanks to Justina Cook, Bill Norin, Alma Stone, Lorraine Works, and the incredible sisters, Sue Wood and Pat Seabolt.!! (a round of applause please!!) A special thanks to Tim Purdy. Tim donated his work, compiling death records from the Lassen Advocate from 1869-1904 and beyond. Within the next week, you should be seeing some amazing things happening on the site. Our new "web-mistress" is Sharon Dulcich and her work is really "uptown". We are very excited and can hardly wait for the "grand opening".Sharon and Elvina are working their fingers to the bone while Betty continues to provide them with PROOFED files. Meanwhile, my group is hard at work on Sacramento County Death Certificates.Sue and Pat are each working on 200 pages right now. None of this comes free of course. Thousands of hours of drudge work and a considerable amount of dollars have been spent just on postage alone. If you feel compelled to donated some funds, we will gladly accept . We will continue to build this project until we have transcribed death records for every county possible. Regrettably there are some counties who did not keep records, but we will search for other sources. Perhaps there will be others like Tim, who will be willing to share their work so that everyone can benefit from it. We look forward to having you visit us. Stay tuned and happy hunting. 3. This is a great project and I applaud Sharon for yet another volunteer venture. We are so lucky to have her! I used the pre-1905 to verify information from some of the hard-to-read headstones at Mountain View Cemetery. I found the site easy to navigate and VERY useful. Another option for sending contributions could be to use Paypal. (www.paypal.com) Judie, what do you think of that idea? Paula (who has a link to the pre-1905 CADI from http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~socalobituaries/ ) Judie says ...
