Emerald Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 3, at the Shafter Molokan Church for Jeannette D. Emerald, age 87 of Shafter, who passed away Dec. 30 in Shafter. Interment will follow at the Shafter Memorial Park. Mrs. Emerald was born March 29, 1907 in Russia to Mr. and Mrs. David Valoff. She moved to Los Angeles with her family at age 1 and it was there that she received her education. In April of 1941 Jeannette was married to Walter Emerald of Shafter and it was then that she moved to Shafter and joined the local Molokan Church. Mrs. Emerald was a homemaker and was preceded in death by Walter in 1985. She leaves to mourn her passing 2 daughters, Sonya Brady and husband Jerry of Shafter, Nadine Krebs and husband Karl of Selma; four sisters, Anita Preston, Vera Shubin, Kathryn Kafimov and Mary Pavloff, all of Los Angeles; granddaughters, Robin Day and Deborah Branson and 3 great grandchildren.
