Hi Karla, Just read this so might be too late to help. Our AVILA ancestors are always up for grabs! We have an AVILA man who marr. an OSUNA girl prior to 1850 at Mission San Gabriel. The banns of marr. had to be cried 3xs first down in Sinaloa at the mission before the wedding could take place in San Gabriel because the OSUNA family had been at Mission San Gabriel some yrs. before the AVILAS arrived. This story is true. No family legend here. You may find dates & names in MARIE NORTHRUP vol 1 - think it's 1. You may also E mail me for details if you'd like MORGAN to use this event in her Ca. Mission Project. I always help abt 30 4th graders every yr. with their projects. Word seems to spread here in Capistrano abt. my Ca. books. Not sure where each is buried, but I do recall the AVILA mother is buried at San Gabriel. This shows some consistancy & importance of Mission San Gabriel in California's history.
