Hi Group, I have rather an odd query. I am trying to establish that my 4th-gt grandmother, Harriet Ann Johnson Berry lived in Selma, Fresno Co., sometime between 1880 and 1888. This information comes from my grandmother who told me that Harriet lived with her son William Jackson Berry in Selma for a couple of years before going to Texas and living with her eldest son. The 1880 census shows: 1880 Census, Fresno Co., CA, Enum. Dist. 5, Vol #3, sheet #1, line 35: Wm J. Berry, 39 b. Mo Anna M., 42 b. Wis Hugh F., 16 b. Ca Clarence J., 13 b. Ca Henry W., 10 b. Ca Cora B., 8 b. Ca Fred, 6 b. Ca Vida, 2 b. Ca So it would seem Harriet lived with the family after the 1880 census was taken. Is there anyone on this list familiar with the Selma community and what kinds of records may be available that might establish who lived there in the 1880s? Sometimes there are church memberships (the Berry family were Cumberland Presbyterians), and sometimes special censuses used in community matters. I would greatly appreciate any input, suggestions or information on this problem. Thank you, Gregory McReynolds Pasadena, California
