The Rev. John Murdoch will officiate and interment will be at Greenlawn Cemetery. Sumner Lodge No. 43, Knights of Pythias will conduct the graveside services. He was well known on the West Side where he operated a grocery store at County Road and D. Street. For 6 years he ran the Mr. Vernon service station and store. He was a member of Knights of Pythias and of Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion in Ventura. Surviving him are a widow, Mrs. Marguerite Thomas, 2340 Pacific Ave., Bakersfield; a son, Mark Frederick Thomas, 10, of Bakersfield; a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Thomas, 13, of Bakersfield; brothers Shelley, W.A., J.O., and Malcolm Thomas, all of Alabama and B.H.
