Memorial Services will be held Monday Jan. 10 at 3 p.m. at the Olive Knolls Nazarene Church, 6201 Fruitvale Ave. Pastor Chuck Miller will officiate and be assisted by Pastor John Calhoun. Visitation will be held at Peters Funeral Home, Sunday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Monday from 9 a.m. to noon. Mrs. Blanton was born May 29, 1906, in Tom Bean, Texas to John and Minnie Hopper. She married Ewing Thomas Blanton Oct. 6, 1928 in Texas and they later moved tothe Sahfter/Wasco area in 1948. She graduated from Fay's Beauty School and retired after 15 years in cosmetology in 1971. She was a hard worker and did lots of sewing and quilting out of necessity. She was a member of the Shafter Nazarene Church for many years before transferring her membership to Olive Knolls in 1992. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ewing Thomas Blanton in 1990; son, Thomas Lee Blanton in 1941; and great-granddaughter, Devon Missert, in August 1999. She is survived by her son, Jim Blanton and wife, Linda of Bakersfield; daughter, Anna Louise Blanton of Shafter; sisters, Mildred Williams and Zelma Marlow, both of Texas; three grandchildren, Deanna Missert and husband Thomas of New Hampshire, Jeffrey Ewing Blanton and wife, Christine of Bakersfield and Jayme Blanton of Alhambra, four great grandchildren, Timothy Blanton, and Justin, Kaley and Britney Missert.
