The Rev. Fred D. Dommer, pastor of Our Savoir's Lutheran Church, will officiate and interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Mr. Burgess was a native of Colorado and resided in Kern County six years. He was a petroleum engineer and geologist and was last employed by Kern County Land Co. The deceased was a member of the American Association of Petroleum Engineers and Geologists, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Survivors include his widow, Shirley; a son, W. Michael of the home address; three daughters, Georgene Garmack of San Diego and Connie and Shirleen Burgess, both of the home address; two sisters, Florence Reynolds of Colorado and Ann Anderson of Sunnyvale; a brother, Walter Askine of Long Beach, and a grandson. Pallbearers will be Ted Carmack, Harry Wasmundt, Wilbur Anderson, Dave Day, Dale Denison, and Walter Askine. Donations may be made to the Kern County Society for Crippled Children. Sharon Kern Co.
