Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Pastor Doug Davis of Calvary Bible Church will officiate. Luther was born July 9, 1901 in Arkansas and moved to California in 1942. Luther managed meat markets in the Bakersfield area for 30 years including Frye's Market and Safeway. He owned Chester Lane Market for several years. In semi-retirement he worked for Floyd and Caroline Liles at Woodale Market. He was past Chief Ranger for two terms with the Foresters Insurance Co. and co-founder of the Foresters RV travel club. Luther and hi wife Edna were avid RV'ers until nearly 90 years old. They spent many years dancing and instructing the "Whirlways" square dance club. They also managed the Rhythum Rancho Dance Hall in 1945. He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Edna; son Bob Henry and wife Nancy; daughter Karla Armitage of Bakersfield; 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews in Texas, Oklahoma and Missouri. Luther was a kind and gentle person who never met a stranger and was loved by all. He was a story teller who loved to talk of his past life and proud to talk about being a "meat cutter".
