Requiem High Mass will be sung Friday at 9 a.m. in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 1515 Baker St., with Msgr. Roger L. McCann, pastor of St. Joseph's Church as the celebrant. Mrs. Avilez was born Feb. 9, 1920, in Bakersfield, and had lived here all her life. She had been a homemaker for the past 25 years. She was a member of St. Joseph's parish and was active in church activities. Survivors include her widower, Dan E., of Bakersfield, her mother, Carolina Montoya of Bakersfield, four sons, Carol L. DeRamus of Fremont, Danny R. Avilez of Bakersfield, George A. Avilez of Fremont, and Freddie T. Avilez of Bakersfield; two daughters, Rose Mary Jean Avilez and Mary Ellen Avilez, both of Bakersfield; four brothers, Frank Robinson of Albuquerque, N.M., Louie Montoya of Taft, Ernest Montoya and Raymond Montoya, both of Bakersfield; two sisters, Mrs. Lucina Swacho of Fresno and ;Mrs. Lilly Clark of Oakland; four grandchildren.
