Here is the obit you requested for: MARNEY ALTA PAULINE born: 05/25/1913 FEMALE OK mother: CLAMPITT father SPROUSE died: KERN 02/12/1999 age: 85 requested by: awilhelm@ev1.net The Bakersfield Californian Monday, February 15, 1999 FUNERALS ALTA PAULINE MARNEY Services; Wed., Feb. 17, 2 p.m. Chapel services will be held for Alta Pauline "Polly" Marney, 85 and are scheduled for Wed., Feb. 17, 1999 at 2 p.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Bakersfield. She passed on at 7:52 p.m. February 12, 1999. Services and graveside will be officiated by Reverend Doug Davis. Pauline was born May 25, 1913, south of Duncan, Stephens County, Oklahoma to John and Clara Sprouse. She was a very active red headed young girl that loved horses and family. She attended school at Weavers Chapel School. "Polly", as she was called, met her life mate, William Lewis Marney in 1930 and they were married February 16, 1931. She and Bill farmed the land for 5 years in the depths of the Great Depression. In 1936, they sold most of everything that they owned and moved with their two children to Arvin, California. They moved from Arvin to Pumpkin Center and Old River area and finally settled in Bakersfield. Pauline and Bill had two more children to complete their family of two sons and two daughters. She was a graduate of Federico's School of Cosmetology in 1958. After receiving her license, she opened Pauline's Beauty Shop in her home on Kern Street. Pauline studied and passed her California Real Estate Bar exam in 1961. Pauline and daughter Pat, were both members of the Order of Eastern Star, Caledonia chapter #391. Husband Bill preceded her in death in 1983. Pauline, Polly, Mom or Grandma Marney dearly loved her husband, children, grand and great-grandchildren, family and friends. She will be greatly missed. Pauline passed on into the hand of her Lord and Savior after suffering from Alzheimer's. A special thanks to all of the care givers in her time of need. She is survived by two daughters, Patsy Josephine and husband Dick Stotler, Neva Joyce Johnson; and two sons, William Robert Marney and wife Mauna, Ronald Wayne Marney and wife Joyce; two sisters, Sammie Lorene Jones and Mary Jane Rhodes; 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Richard Stotler Jr., Danny Stotler, Lee Johnson, Wayne Johnson, Chris Raue and Brandon Rackliffe. Honorary pall bearers: great-grandsons, Ryan Newman, Jason and Scott Stotler. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. Hillcrest Memorial Park & Mortuary Sharon Kern Co. Volunteer
