She attended primary school in Simi Valley, Calif. until 1978 when she moved with her family to the Kern Valley. She continued her education at Kern Valley High School and graduated in 1984. For the past few years, Jamie was an employee at the Kern Valley Hospital District, where she was well known, highly thought of, and loved by many. Jamie will be remembered for the joy she brought into the lives of those who knew her, for her selfless giving and helpfulness, and her amazing sense of humor. She was a magnificent, devoted mother to her daughter, a compassionate, loving sister to her siblings, and a caring, thoughtful companion to her friends. Jamie is preceded in death by her parents, Newton and Barbara Derr. She is survived by her daughters, Diana Wagner and Catherine Langill; brother Ron of Charlotte, N.C.; sister Linda of Anaheim, Calif.; brother Daniel of Bakersfield, Calif.; brother David of Kernville, Calif.; and brother Joel of Phoenix, Ariz. We all love her immensely and miss her. She will forever be in our thoughts, prayers, and hearts. A memorial service will be held at Kernville United Methodist Church on Saturday, Jan. 14, at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Alcoholics anonymous or Narcotics Anonymous.
