F7 OBITUARIES LUCAS, DON D. - Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in The Hopson Mortuary chapel for Don D. Lucas, 81, 6305 Desert hills Ave., who died March 29 in a Bakersfield hospital. The Rev. Glenn Puder, pastor emeritus will officiate. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery. Lucas was a native of Harbor, Ore., and had lived in California and Bakersfield since 1920. He was a veteran of World War I serving in the Navy. In 1923 he established the post office at Wheeler Ridge. He was in the oilwell supply business for 16 years, later developing and operating his own oil production company in the Kern River oilfields. He retired to his ranch in Oregon in 1951. He was active in fish and game conservation and was a member of Footprinters and Eagles. Survivors include his wife, Margaret; a son, Gerald D. of Bakersfield; two daughter, Mary Patricia Clarke of La Canada and Elizabeth Ann Evans of Lafayette; 15 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; three brothers, Patrick H of Red Bluff, George H. Pettinger of Red Bluff and John Pettinger of Myrtle Point, Ore., and two sister, Mabel June Ham of Bandon, Ore., and Mildred Elizabeth Hanson of Bountiful, Utah. Pallbearers will be the grandsons, Donald Garrard, Dwight Clarke, Don D. Lucas II, Patrick Lucas, Mark Evans, John Evans, Jerald Lucas Clarke, Edmund Clarke Jr. and Larry Lucas.
