    2. Here is the obit you requested for the following person: Surname: BOEN Given Name: Ray L. Publication Date: 10/5/2005 Entry Type: Obituary Date of Death: 10/2/2005 Place of death: Bakersfield Cemetery: Greenlawn SW Memorial Park, Panama Ln., Bakersfield Funeral Director: Greenlawn SW Mortuary, Bakersfield, CA Requested by: _dewberry@cswnet.com_ (mailto:dewberry@cswnet.com) The Bakersfield Californian Wednesday, October 5, 2005 Pg. B2 Ray L. BOEN 3/2/1921 - 10/2/2005 Services: Thurs., Oct. 6, 10:30 a.m. A graveside service will be held Thursday, October 6, 2005, 10:30 a.m. at Greenlawn Southwest Memorial Park, 2739 panama Road. Ray was born in rural Arkansas one of the eleven siblings of William and Mary Boen. The family moved to Bakersfield when he was about 12 years old and he resided here the rest of his life. He met the love of his life here, Aline Smith, they married in 1943. They had two children together. Ray, known as 'Papa' by the family, served in the Army during World War II. He worked for the County Roads Department for many years. He then did what he had always wanted to do...he started his own business in the construction industry. He began by hauling sand and gravel. Then there were jobs working on feed mills and pipelines. He finally settled on building steel storage tanks at which he was very successful and pursued until his retirement. All during these years 'Nana 7 Papa's' house was the hub of the family. You could always go there and count on being loved (unconditionally), fed (ridiculous amounts of good food) and probably catch a game of Yahtzee or watch a ball game on the big screen. These are memories that we will always hold dear in our hearts. Nana passed away eight years ago. He has been very lonely for her since she left us. Now they are together again eternally. He was also preceded in death by his parents and seven of his siblings. He is survived by his daughter, Linda Horrisberger and husband, Bill; and his son, John Boen; 5 grandsons, Scott Horrisberger and wife, Laura, Kevin Horrisberger, Tim Auxier and wife, Amy, Bryin Boen and Chase Boen; 9 great-grandchildren, Alicia, Amber, Andrew, Bradley, Kassie, Lauren, Leslie and Blake Horrisberger along with Tyler Auxier; 2 great-great-grandsons, Zackary Ontiveros and Ethan Horrisberger. The family is very grateful to Bryin Boen for caring for Papa these last few months. Visitation is Wednesday, October 5, 2005, 12-9 p.m. at Greenlawn Southwest Mortuary. Sharon Kern Co. Volunteer
