    3. So much is going on at SCGS that I'm going to break this email into two parts. This is Part 1. ANNOUNCEMENTS The BIGGEST news is that the dates for JAMBOREE 2007 have been set! The 38th Annual Southern California Genealogy Jamboree and Resource Expo will be held Friday, Saturday and Sunday, June 8, 9, and 10, 2007, at the Burbank Airport Hilton. That's right -- three days! Be on the lookout for more information soon, but save the dates now. The first publications to be generated by the 1890 Committee have just been released. The Naturalization Index of the Superior Court for Los Angeles County, California includes every "naturalization transaction" with each alien that occured in this court only between 1852 and 1915. The index includes more than 40,000 entries, with close to 27,000 unique names and more than 350 countries or combinations of countries or origin, i.e., Hungary-Canada-Great Britain. Compiled by the 1890 Committee of the Southern California Genealogical Society. Softbound. The three volumes are available for purchase individually or as a set and can be ordered through the SCGS website at www.scgsgenealogy.com/catalog Jay Holladay has agreed to lead a RootsMagic Interest Group at the Library. If you're a RootsMagic user and are interested in joining the Interest group, please email Jay at jholladay@comcast.net. No meeting dates have been set yet. Saturday, June 24, we will be holding an open house to welcome the 100+ new members that joined the Society since the first of the year. Most of these new members joined when they registered for Jamboree, during Jamboree, or shortly thereafter. We welcome all the new members and look forward to seeing everyone on the 24th. Drop in any time from 11am to -2pm at the Library. Wine, cheese and goodies will be served, and Board, Committee, and Interest Group leaders will be on hand to explain the various activities of SCGS. The Library is open that day for research, too, so please stop by and greet the new members. You might find a cousin! The Historical LA Times newspaper database is available online at the SCGS Library in Burbank. Unfortunately, due to restrictions placed by the owners of the content, The Tribune Companies, we are unable to make this database available for use from home. However, our SCGS members are welcome to come to the Library and use the database at no charge. The Volunteer Luncheon was held on Saturday, June 10. Photos from that event will be posted very soon on the website. Our deepest thanks goes out to the many volunteers who help keep the Library and Society running. The Society is run 100% by volunteers, and we couldn't operate without them. Jumping ahead to September, the SCGS USED BOOK SALE will be held Saturday, September 30, 2006 8 a.m. - 2 p.m. in the library parking lot. Please start to clean out your bookshelves and bring your books to the library before September 1. Then come to the sale and refill those empty spots! Books sold at the sale benefit the library book collection. Hardback and paperback books of all types are wanted and they do not need to be related to genealogy. Please, no periodicals.
