Well folks I gotta 'fess up. Just because somebody said some while back that the early CADI existed ONLY on the original ledgers, & old poor microfilm, I had no justification to think that was all there was. & worse yet to repeat that assertion on the list as recently as yesterday. GOOD NEWS I contacted Mike Quinn at the state vital records ( you saw a msg from him forwarded yesterday) & asked ... Here's the deal .... When he took over the job, he found data on OLD data tapes. He was faced with a problem that has beset the Federal gov't & many states. Computer data on old tapes, so old, that either there is no hardware that will run them, or no software to read them. Did our hero quit ?? No !! He found a company that can read the old tapes, & the early CADI is being processed, then he will have to do a quality control process. It is unknown at this time how long this will take. But the early CADI is on the way. His answer did not address the CAMI, CABI, so I have asked if there are tapes of them, & I'll pass on whatever he says. It's a bit early on, but I think he deserves an 'attaboy to his boss or the legislature, or maybe everybody. Phil pvc@vancamp.org .
