    3. Lester, I may be able to answer a few of your questions and then ad a few more bugs to the pie. With the assistance of some great people I have been able to obtain additional information on my Horace Walter Turner. You were correct in the Ethel C. Fisher and Horace divorced sometime after the birth of my mom, Ardath Mary Turner in August 1923. I have only today obtained my moms sisters name, who died at birth and was the eldest twins. Based on the California Birth Index the following information was obtained: TURNER, Adriane b. 8/20/1923, mothers maiden name FISHER TURNER, Ardath M. b. 8/20/1923, mothers maiden name FISHER Adriane died at birth on 8/20/1923 and was the eldest of the two twins. My mom, Ardath, died on Feb 3, 1998 and was laid to rest in Oroville California. She can be found on the CA Death Index as Ardath Mary Robnett. On my moms birth certificate it has listed Horace Walter Turner, her father, as an Engineer working at the Standard Oil Refinery. As you have eluded to Horace could have remarried a women with the initials "LJ". I have no information on who this LJ may have been, but then my search is still very young. In about 1978, while I was in the Navy visiting the San Diego area, I was able to locate Horace who at the time was confined to a Rest Home. Due to the limited amount of time in the area I was only able to talk with him on the phone. I do appreciate the information you've provided and has given me more to search. I've written to obtain Horace's SS5 and when it arrives will add that information to my information, Again, Lester, I very much appreciate the interest you have taken in my search. Sincerely, Greg Rogers Tuolumne, CA olsaltusa@netscape.net Lester M Powers <lesterps@juno.com> wrote: Gregory Rogers seeks Horace Walter Turner (b. ca. 1901, KA), an engineer at a Standard Oil Refinery, one daughter of whom, Ardath Mary Turner, b. 1923 at El Segundo, CA (where the Standard Oil Refinery is), which Horace is said to have resided some time or other in San Diego County too. Gregory wondered about a Horace Turner on the SSDI died at North Hollywood. Larry Turner posted a claim on this list for the North Hollywood Horace Turner, saying that's probably his uncle, Horace Fraser Turner, if the death date is year 2000. OK. To kill some time today, I looked up Horace Turner (d. North Hollywood) on the SSDI at www.rootsweb.com. That one died year 2000 all right. Larry Turner's claim probably stands. Gregory Rogers is probably out one grandpa. ***BUT*** near or at the bottom of the display with the North Hollywood Larry uncle appears a Horace Turner b. July 1, 1901 d. March 1979, ZIP code 92050. Now, ZIP 92050 *ought* to be in San Diego County, though I tried to find it, and I cannot. Now the fun begins. (ATTENTION DONNA WHO LOOKS UP SAN DIEGO STUFF.) The CADI has a Horace W. Turner, died at county code 37 (San Diego Co.???), March 21, 1979, Registrar Number 3035, State File Number 33550, SSN 572-12-2974. OK. PROBLEM!!! Greg's Horace's wife's name was Ethel Catherine Fisher. Horace W. Turner on the CADI has spouse's initials "LJ." I.e., **wrong wife.** But, suppose Ethel died or was divorced? Well, this is only guesswork, but the CADI has an Ethel Fisher (no spouse) d. 1980 in the county of L.A. and an Ethel C. Turner (no spouse) d. 1961, city of L.A. How's them apples for indistinguishable sauce? But, this is just some out-of-the-blue, out-on-a-limb guesswork, mind. By the way, the Standard Oil refinery at El Segundo was up and running late in 1911 (or so), and thus Mr. Turner being there in the 1920s is no prob. And, I might add, San Diego Co. has been regarded as a retirement haven by Lost Angelinos for at least a couple of decades, if not longer.
