Spadra was named after Uncle Billy Joe Rubottom's home town in Arkansas. He ran the Butterfield Stage stop in Spadra for many years. He is buried in the Spadra Cemetery with wife and daughter. It's a tiny cemetery and I wouldn't know how to get to it today without calling the sheriff's office. It's below Elephant Hill and completely surrounded by civilization now. Very sad.
