I need some help locating several Townships that existed in 1870 Los Angeles County. At that time, there was no Orange County [which was part of Los Angeles County at that time] so several of the Townships may have been located in what is today's Orange County. I am preparing to transcribe the 1870 Federal Census for Los Angeles County so it can be placed online for researchers to use, but I need help identifying some of these Townships: Agala-El Monte Township [in today's El Monte area?] Los Angeles Township [seperate from the City of Los Angeles so it must be the area around the City of Los Angeles at that time--suberbs?] Los Nietos Township [no idea where this was at] San Gabriel Township [near modern day San Gabriel in the San Gabriel Valley somewhere?] Santa Ana Township [modern Santa Ana in Orange County?] Anaheim-Santa Ana Township [modern Anaheim in Orange County?] San Jose Township [never heard of this one in connection with Los Angeles or Orange Counties] Soladad Township [never heard of this township in connection with Los Angeles or Orange Counties] Wilmington Township [modern Wilmington?] Compton-Wilmington Township [modern Compton?] Any help identifying these would be most appreciated Sincerely, Edward, Sr.
