    3. Nancy,, The sad truth is that there is really no good way to get L.A. obits. I flirted with the idea last year of charging for obits, but what I found was that only about 10% of the people that I looked for even had obits. I eventually stopped looking for ANY elderly deaths at all, (rest homes don't pay for obits), and then I stopped doing any look-ups after 1980. The L.A Times charges $45 per 1/4 hour for look-up's, and they don't guarantee they will find them. I charged way less, but never made more than $75 in six months!
