    1. RFD address decoding

    3. Hello, all I need some help to decode whatever this address was supposed to mean: 811 RFD 7705 Los Feliz Road where the 0 in 7705 is sorta kinda like a superscript 0 with a little line drawn under it. The time for the above address was 1911, and the place was probably the Los Feliz district just south of Griffith Park, or Atwater Village, or south Glendale (north of downtown Los Angeles, of course). Why are there TWO numbers in the above address??? I know that RFD means Rural Free Delivery, but nothing else. Actually, I would expect a rural (farm) address to have no street number at all. So, what are the numbers, and why two of them? They appear in a birth certificate. Thank you. 3. For years the Postal Service has been trying to do away with all the RFD addresses and change them into real addresses(Road and number) that visitors and new postal employees CAN FIND. Perhaps this was an inbetween "fix" until folks got used to the new system? Is 7705 Los Feliz an actual address? Is 811 RFD the old rural route number? Dunno. How about checking with the post office in the area---or, perhaps, a very retired rural carrier or other employee from that area?
