But, the crowds are all described as being peaceful, though quite upset, and lawful. There was a book written about this, and some magazines picked up the story from the book. My library does NOT have films of the newspapers going back that far, so I have to believe the book, which described an excited peace-on-the-edge in Pasadena. The affair was winding down in December (1950). Too bad the book did not mention any riots or even any arrests. I could have waxed eloquent on the subject (probably with the list mom's disapproval).     3. Lester, You sure know more about it than I did! Once again, you surpassed me as a Los Angeles history buff. Do you know the title of the book? The Pasadena Main Library has articles going back to this era, but I would need an exact date. BTW, there was lots of right wing intrigue back then. I read an article recently in the L.A. Times about how in 1947, the Glendale American Legion stormed into the La Crescenta Democratic Club meeting and had to be removed by the police. They were all wired up over what they perceived as the club's leftist tendencies...
