For 17 years he operated the Bell Grocery at 8th and L streets. He was a member of Bakersfield Lodge No. 224 F&AM. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Ruby Bell, Bakersfield; his son Harold Bell at home; his daughters Evelyn Bell at home and Mrs. Laura Yancey, Hanford; his sister, Mrs. Viola Bruner, Oakland.
