Hello, I'm on the northern California list but I need some help in southern California with a big mystery. I found some interesting news articles in a Long Beach paper Dec. 1929 but ran out of time before I could research back to the original incident which occurred in April 1926 (closest date I could find). Would anyone be able to find a news story or obituary for a death in the LA or Long Beach area? I think both area papers probably covered the story since it was a gangland slaying. The murder victim was Eddie 'Blondy' Hannan [or Hammond]. Two different issues of a Long Beach paper in Dec. 1929 referred back to the incident as having occurred at a 'local boarding house'. One gave the name as HANNAN, the other as HAMMOND. I'm looking for the names and possibly pictures of people involved in the incident. I think it should mention that there were at least two men and one woman. Someone with a close family relationship maybe? Appreciate any help or suggestions. I'm glad to pay for copies and mailing if you find something!- Junel
Junel, I do obit look-ups in L.A. when they are high profile cases like this. However, without an actual date, it would be too much to look through an entire month.
