Howard, Here's Lillie Black: Bakersfield Californian, Thursday, August 28, 1986 Black, Lillie "Peggy" - graveside funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. in the West Side District Cemetery, Taft, for Lillie Peggy Black, 81. The Rev. Dr. Neil M. Judson will officiate. Mrs. Black was born in Indian Territory now Oklahoma on April 24, 1905 and passed away in a Bakersfield hospital on Wednesday. Mrs. Black has lived in the Taft and Buttonwillow area for the last 40 years. She was a member of The American Legion Auxiliary. Survivors include sons, Lloyd Pierce of Bakersfield; Roy Pierce of Ventura, Gerald Pierce of Taft and Coy Pierce of Fayetteville, North Carolina; daughter Ninah Melton of Buttonwillow; brother Willard Meeks of Bakersfield; sisters Idabel Sloan of Ardmore, Oklahoma, Thelma Snider of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Mary Fanning of Costa Mesa, Viola Montgomery of Wilson Texas and Betty Moran of Taft; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
