    1. Jamboree 2001
    2. Hi List, Wanted to mention that the Jamboree seems a little early this year. Think it was late April or May last year. It will be held at the Pasadena Center, 300 E Green St, Pasadena, CA 91101. I have been to 2 of them, and found them quite useful. There will be 5 time slots for speakers each day and 2 speakers at any one time. If you go both days you may be able to cover most of them. One day should be $10 or 2 days for $15 with parking for $7 ($14 for 2 days) In addition to the speakers the main hall has lot's of books, software, CD-ROMs, charts and more than enough other stuff to break you. I bought a fiche reader last year, and could barely afford to order some film for it :-) There are tables for those doing research in different ethnic or geographic areas: Black, Hispanic, Irish, German, Japanese, Alabama, Michigan etc. Then you can get help on things like adoptions as well. There is food available in the building, but unless you are big on hot dogs my suggestion is to get out of there and go up to Colorado (1 block). The event is sponsored by the Southern California Genealogical Society and Family Research Library and their Web site is http://www.scgsgenealogy.com It looks like scqs but is scgs in the URL. I know that many members of the list are out of state, but for those in the area I think you would enjoy this event. It might even be a good excuse to come here for others. Will try to post the subjects the speakers have chosen for this year at a later time. bill.widrig@juno.com ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO!
