Sue bewails the confusion that there are two Holy Cross Cemeterys in L.A.Co. I checked my Thomas Bros. atlas, and yep, there’s two of ‘em, one in Culver City and the other in Pomona. But, we know that the funeral director was Callanan, and chances are that Callanan was close to the correct Holy Cross. I checked http://www.555-1212.com and found the mortuary as thusly: Callanan Mortuary 1301 N. Western Ave. Los Angeles, CA 90027 phone (323) 462-2266 That address is in the Hollywood area, and is VASTLY CLOSER to Culver City than it is to Pomona. Pomona is way, way, way, way yonder out there at the other end of the county. So, the Culver City cemetery has just about gotta be the one. Slauson Ave. Culver City, CA 90230 phone (323) 776-1855 A peek at L.A.’s USGenWeb Project page, http://www.cagenweb.com/~re/losangeles (via www.rootsweb.com, going the long way in) shows Holy Cross to be a Catholic cemetery. I don’t know the admission requirements for Holy Cross, but there is certainly a chance that Rhoda Roberts (nee Dunn) was Catholic.
