Hi Listers, The NEW Hollywood Forever Cemetery has been a recent topic on SOCAL and I feel of interest to the NORCAL members. In today's LA Times there is an article with pictures about the revived cemetery and the new emphasis by the owners on family histories and the applications of computer technology to the mortuary business---it's much more 'user friendly'. Here's the URL for the LA Times...better check it fast; the Times doesn't keep articles available for free for too long. <http://www.latimes.com/living/lat_cemetery010102.htm> I live 'over the hill' from the cemetery and will check the records for Listers' ancestors while I am out of school until Jan. 7th. Please send me the particulars of the research you request, directly to me, OFF THE LISTS and be sure this is the correct cemetery to search. My e-mail is; <ND_HOWARD@ayhoo.com> Have a great day, Nancy Howard in Studio City CA ===== Researching: Doyle in TN,KY and CA; Perkins in MO,KY and CA; Pringle in CT,MO and OR; Howard in ME, NY and CT. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Hi All, Just wanted to say that I found this article very interesting - and a bit scary at the same time. In the future it will be much easier to verify deaths and find out information on one's ancestors, as I'd imagine many cemeteries will jump on the computer/DNA bandwagon. But, on the downside, at what cost to the living? And those buried in such a cemetery may never "rest in peace." I thought the comparison with "The Loved One" particularly apt. Thanks, Nancy, for sending the URL for the article.
