Slentz, 70, 214 Frances St., who died May 27 in a Bakersfield hospital. the Rev. John F. May of the Oildale First Baptist church will officiate. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery. Slentz, a native of Indiana lived in Bakersfield 25 years. He was a roustabout for more than 15 years and last worked for Signal Oil Co. He was a member of the Oildale First Baptist Church and worked with the Boy Scouts of America in the Explorer's Program. Survivors include his wife Alice Mary; four daughters, Gladys Hall and Zelma Wright both of Oklahoma City; Buelah Lasley of Big Rapids, MI; and Betty Perryman of Bakersfield; a son Eugene Lavaun Slentz of Bakersfield; two brothers Raymond of Muskogee, Okla. and William of Oklahoma City; two sisters Aletha Long and Juanita Bailey both of Oklahoma City; 14 grandchildren and a great grandchild. Pallbearers will be Arch Phillyes, Bird Carr, Larry Swett, Ralph Morrow, Lou Brown and Phil Ruthorford. Honorary Pallbearers will be John Harris. Bakersfield Californian, January 27, 1998 Alice Mary Holder Slentz Services: Wed., Jan. 28, 2 p.m. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, January 28, 1998, at 2:00 p.m. in Greenlawn Cemetery for Alice Mary Slentz, 84. Rev. Phil Neighbors of Valley Baptist church will officiate. Alice Mary Holder was born December 2, 1913, in the Indian Territory near Broken Arrow, OK. She lived in Oklahoma and Texas most of her life. On December 29, 1930 she married Herbert l. Slentz and had celebrated 48 years of marriage. They settled in Oklahoma to raise her five children, one, Gladys Slentz Hall, predeceased her. She always said "She was going to live to be 110 if the good Lord let's her." Well, He took her home at 84. she had been active in supply maintenance for over 27 years at Kern General Hospital. She was very active in her church and was a member of the Sunshine Class and Prayer Chain at Valley Baptist church. She loved camping, fishing and travel. She is survived by four children, Zelma Wright of Del City, OK, Buelah Lasley of big Rapids, MI, Betty Perryman of Oildale, and Eugene Slentz of Arroyo Grande; a son-in-law Jack Hall of Oklahoma City, OK; two brothers Aulden Holder and Robert Holder; a sister, Altie "Dot" O'Flaherty and husband Mike; also 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and had 13 foster children whom she raised and took care of. Visitation will be from 12 noon until 8:00 p.m. at Mish Funeral Home. Sharon Kern Co. Volunteer
