Does anyone know if Louis Rubidoux was buried at Aguamansa Cemetery in Colton? I have been told he was buried next to Isaac Slover whose grave I found at Aguamansa. But there was no stone found for Rubidoux. Gary Radcliffe glradcliffe@aol.com

Acton is a former gold camp in the Soledad Canyon region of Santa Clarita Valley. It is about one hour north of Los Angeles. If you do a Yahoo search on it, I'm sure you will find some city resources,,,and maybe even a historical society. Does someone know what are the bordering counties that divide North and South California. I am curious, does the rootsweb.com distribute the same e-mail to both N & S? Does the dividing line go thru the counties? Who decided to divide CA like that? E-mail Wayne at jublizard@aol.com Thanks, Wayne Blizard

Hello, I am trying to find a Los Angeles County History with biographies of people from the City of Acton. I am particularly interested in a gentleman named R.E. Nickels who was editor of the Acton Rooster about the turn of the century - and his parents hopefully. Thank you! Marilyn Demas

Pauline, I live in Bodfish, and the paper is delivered. I can really appreciate their success, because I have had it. I grew up not knowing the names of my four grandparents. At http://userzweb.lightspeed.net/davey, on the second page, scroll down beneath the newspaper articles to the paragraph that begins: "My father Giovanni Coia...." Tells how I found my family in Italy, and my father's true identity/ I'm still "pinching" myself. To those looking for info on L.A. but who don't want to go to the Downtown Central Library. I went to the Rosemead Library today as I wanted to check on what they had on Tulare County as I am researching that area. I have been reading "The Octopus" by Norris, the story of the Railroad and how it crushed the people of the Central Valley and how they bought the Legislature, the judges and everything in between. Doing the research I find my ggfather bought land in the late 1880s, and sudenly in 1895 he shows up on the delinquent tax rolls and his widow ends up selling the property. Interesting stuff. Next time I go a couple of miles up the street to the Huntington Library I will realize that my ggf helped pay for it. Maybe I won't go for the voluntary contribution. Anyway, while I was there I noticed that they are very well stocked with L.A. City Directories from 1887 through 1938. There may be a gap or two in there, but I think it is better than downtown in number. All hardbound, but some are in cases that make me think they may be in poor condition. Unfortunately the librarian dropped one today and it is in considerably poorer condition, having split. I didn't think to ask if they would do lookups, but their phone no. is (626) 573-5220 if anyone wants to give it a try. ________________________________________________________________ YOU'RE PAYING TOO MUCH FOR THE INTERNET! I'd like to begin ordering 1910 census cds for Los Angeles County. There are probably half a doze cds available for the county for 1910 and are listed by the enumeration districts on each. I'd like to begin with the Los Feliz area, Feliz Blvd, Allesandro St., etc. I believe this would be the old Los Angeles Twp. I have 1910 census pages for other states and most of them began indicating street or road along the lefthand border. If any of you have copies of 1910 census pages, could you take a peek at them and maybe post the enumeration district and corresponding streets? When I begin receiving the cds, I'll do the same and post to the list. EDs and corresponding streets. (Hopefully they are indicated on the pages.) Thank you for any help. Karla
