I dont know what San Diego (37) means. Hope this helps trace07@jps.net Gregory Rogers wrote: > I am searching for additional information on my Grandfather Horace Walter > Turner b. ca 1901 in
Don't forget that the SSDI does not list the place of death or last residence. The place noted is where the last benefit was sent. This may indeed have been a last monthly benefit check sent to the living person. But it may just as well have been a death benefit check sent to some other person. For example, my Dad's last benefit was sent to the mortuary. On another hand, to the best of my knowledge, Standard Oil did not have any refinery in the San Diego area, but there was one in the L.A. area, "El Segundo". That was originally the name (unofficial) of the refinery, & later when the area incorporated, it became the name of the town. That is not to far from N. Hollywood, & he may have been in a hospital there. It might be worth a few $ to get a death cert., & see where that leads you. www.vitalchek.com or www.vitalrec.com Depending on how long ago he died, the company or union may still have records. Also, the dc will tell you if he was a military vet, & if so, that file will have tons of info on him. He was too young for the WW1 draft, but may have registered during WW2. I don't know what the top cut off date was then. So, you might want to check with NARA, San Bruno & see if they have a draft registration card for him. I am searching for additional information on my Grandfather Horace Walter Turner b. ca 1901 in KA. Horace married my grandmother, Ethel Catherine Fisher in 1920/21. There were three children born of this marriage 1. Wallace Turner b. unknown 2. unknown baby girl (older twin) 3. Ardath Mary Turner b. 20 August 1923 in el Segundo, CA. (2nd twin) Until this evening I had understood that my mom's sister had died in delivery, however, my mom's birth certificate indicates that she was the third living child of this marriage and the second of in order of birth. Another mystery to solve. I believe Horace lived in the San Diego CA area however a search of the Social Security Death Index indicates that a Horace Turner passed away in N. Hollywood, CA. According to the Birth Certificate his occupation was "Engineer" and he worked for "Standard oil Refy." Any information on Horace "WALTER" Turner would be very much appreciated. The town of Galt is slightly to the west of Sacramento. That's not to say that Galt HS has to be in the town of Galt, but it might be. Bob,, Don't worry about it. I much prefer someone being warm and friendly than the typical Gen List post which reads something like this. "DCT ASAP!! JONES, RALPH. DOD SOMETIME THIS CENTURY,,MAYBE 1970'S." It's Christmas...we are friendly here! Joe --- Bob Quinton <bearque@brightok.net> wrote: > I apologize for the goofy queries. I have another question..... I have never sent for a Social Security record before. Today I received my first one and was surprised that it was only a single sheet application. I thought the applications were more detailed than this and that the job histories and other things would be included. Has anyone ever done this before and what was your experience ? Is this another thing that you have to specify the complete file or they won't send it ? Paulette Williams I hear ethereal whispers, persuasive, soft and still, "Daughter if you don't remember us, who will ?"

Hi I'm attempting to find information on my mother's side of the family - surname Gaxiola. Probably CADI on - Jack Gaxiola - Betty Gaxiola - Richard Gaxiola Jack was my grandfather, and sketchy information from family records has him in LA county. Same for Betty and Richard. This will help fill out some lines.....my mother (Kathleen Gaxiola) married Don Wharff, a descendent of David Wharff (originally from Southwark UK, 1658). Any info/pointers appreciated.
