I've just been looking on a map of CA - around the PASO ROBLES area & noticed an area called "Camp Roberts Military Reservation" .. Can anyone give me any information about this place ? .. Thank you .. Sue
It is a huge training base, now for the Army Reserve, & National Guard. I used to be sent there summers. If you recall the old TV series "Combat", that was filmed on Camp Roberts. I believe it was built for WW2 training, but it may be older. I was reading and couldn't help but wonder, is it possible that she married twice after her divorce from Van's father? Van could have taken the name of his first stepfather and his mother could have gone on to marry again afterwards. Just a thought. Melinda -----Original Message----- From: Blanche [mailto:phl3851@blackfoot.net] Sent: Thursday, January 18, 2001 2:19 PM To: SOCAL-L@rootsweb.com Subject: CDT-CHATSWORTH, LOS ANGELES Joe -Thanks very much for your interest. I am trying, through the SOCAL list to have someone look at her DC. Yes, I have considered that he very likely could have been Vanzel Platt. Have only within the past year or so known that her married name was Platt and that she had died. I , novice that I am, haven't considered looking for her marriage certificate. I feel a real urgency to find him because I would like to tell him that his father really wanted to contact him. He was seriously injured in a construction accident - a stick of dynamite blew up in his face, and starting about 1949 went through 23 surgeries and months and months of hospitalisation. He did not ever regain more than a very small amount of sight. Of course he was unable to work. His new wife, my MIL, was adamantly opposed to helping him find him and he was unable to do it alone....or so he thought. Thanks again.
