    2. Debra.....There are a lot of web sites on the film industry on the internet. There is a possiblility that if this Sally Nelson-Lawless..may have been a member of SAG (Screen Actor's Guild) The Guild started in about 1932...and in about 1952 just about everyone in the industry belonged....Ronald Reagon was the President of the Guild that year. I'll try and find the name when I have a little more time, but in the meantime.....just to to GOOGLE Search.... http.www.google.com/ and start looking. The family has written their last name as EMWRIGHT on my grand-father-in-law's death cert, as well as my mother-in-law's birth cert, but I recognize how names changed. Grandad was possibly born about 1888 or earlier. So if this is the uncle, and the name does ring a bell for my husband, he could have been born in that time frame. As kids grow up,titles such as movie producer and director don't have a world of differrence in terminology do they. Where might I get more information on Ray Enwright? Thanks, Chim Where did Mr. EMWRIGHT come from, originally, and about in what decade was he born? If he was born on March 25, 1896 at Anderson, Indiana, that would be offer hope. If not, well, beats me. The "American Film Institute Catalog of Motion Pictures" indexes for 1911 through 1970 (except the 1950s, which is missing at my library), does NOT have an Emwright or Emright or Enwright, but it DOES have a Raymond ("Ray") ENRIGHT, born 1896 at Anderson, Indiana, died 1965 place unknown, but maybe SoCal. Ray Enright started in the pix biz in 1914 and was a director 1927 to 1953 at various studios. The problem is, you said Emwright, not Enright. The names rhyme, but I doubt that's good enough. Also, Ray was a director, not a producer. Lester Powers lesterps@juno.com ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO! 3. Hi All: I need to research the Inyo County newspapers. I was working with the Inyo Independent at the Beale Library here in Bakersfield, but, it was on microfilm in the negative form. Extreamly hard to read and impossible to copy. The local film starts with July 1870. Does anyone know if there was an Inyo paper prior to 1870 and if so what and where it may be housed. Also, does anyone know if the Inyo Independent was ever micro filmed in the positive, rather than the negative? Also ( one more time ) does anyone know if the Inyo Independent was ever indexed by names? Thanks for any assistance. Gail Darling Bakersfield, CA

    3. Debra of Bakersfield asked about a movie person (actress?) named Sally Nelson-Lawless or Lawliss. I found a Tom and Pat Lawless and a Joe Lawliss, but nothing even like a Sally. (I forgot to check for a "Sally Nelson" at the library, but there isn't one in my Video Movie Guide here at home.) Perhaps she had one of those "screen name" aliases. 3. The last I heard, there wasn't one. Apparently at some time or other the legislature planned for a number of state census's. Whatever the source, somewhere they are listed as having happened. But the 1852 ( for congressional seats after statehood) was the only one that was taken. 1. Re: Birth info?
    2. Phil Van Camp
    3. The CABI should include the county of birth. You can get the actual record from the county www.vitalchek.com or www.vitalrec.com or by contacting the state in Sacramento. The counties are usually significantly faster. The only advantage to using the state is when you do not have the exact information. Smaller counties will sometimes search some time span, but don't count on it. Most won't. On the other hand, the state will search, but don't expect the results in less than months. Some counties will allow transcribing, but many won't because of identity theft concerns they say.
