Served War of 1812 under Capt Isaac Wilson in Churchill's NY Militia Thomas & Rebeckah married May 30, 1815 at Broadalbin, Montgomery Co., NY. In my possession is a ladder back, rush seat rocking chair given to them as a wedding present. By 1818 they had moved to Warsaw, Genesse Co. NY, where Thomas operated a grist mill with his father, Ephraim Palmer (1760-1852). In 1820 census T&R are in Warsaw, and live next door to Samuel Snow. Who also has small children. I have assumed this Samuel to be brother of Rebeckah. Does anyone have any connection or line to this Samuel Snow? This could be a huge help. T&R's first five children are b. Warsaw. By August of 1823 they have moved to Conewango, Catteraugus Co. NY, where their last child (my g. grandfather) is born, and Thomas becomes a school teacher. In May 1832 T&R purchased abt 80 ac. land near Chatham, Medina Co. OH. Their six children, dates and spouses are: Margaret McCoon Palmer b. Mar 1, 1816, d. May 24, 1834, bur. Medina Co. She died Sep 24, 1907. They lived in Kansas and had son Zina Post, daughter Zara Post. Descendants uncertain. Ephraim Milo Palmer b. Dec. 13, 1828 Conewango, NY. Went to Calif. Gold fields in 1850, returned to IL 1858. Marr to Sarah H. Butler at Freedom Twp. LaSalle Co. IL Jun 13, 1861. Died at Prairie Center, IL Jan 30, 1892. One son., Walter Butler Palmer b. 1868. All desc. known. With the exception of Ephraim, of the children's names are on the Palmer side. So it seems to me that the names of her children should shed a clue on the names of Rebeckah's parents. Was her father's name Joseph? Or maybe Samuel, as we are fairly certain that she had a brother, Samuel. Was her mother's maiden name McCoon, Hubbard, or Allen? It would almost seem that it must be one of the three. Ideas and thoughts welcome, and if anyone doing Snow research comes upon some clues please let me know. We have named our first daughter: Rebeckah Snow Burrows . . . and such a shame that her namesake is lost. Peter Burrows, Annapolis, MD (save as: SNOW 030399.#Q).
