In a recent post on the Snow List I mentioned that Sarah, wife of John Snow (c1717-1784) of Albemarle CO., VA., was a Jackson. She is shown as Sarah Jackson here: http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=mikesmom&id=I0173 http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=koathout&id=I294 The first one includes no sources but the second one shows Sarah Jackson (b. c1721) in Albemarle County, Virginia, married c1740 in ORANGE County, Virginia and the two sources were: (1) Ancestral File, Ver. 4.18 (LDS Church); and (2) Albemarle County, Virginia Marriages (1780-1853) by John Vogt & T. William Kethley Jr. (Repository: Mount Vernon Library). A very thorough researcher emailed me the following: I checked out those web sites and I do have that 3 volume set on Albemarle County marriages. Unfortunately it begins in 1780, far later than the marriage of John Snow of Buck Mountain (father of Frost & Snow, Sr.) and Sarah. In fact, I could not find any mention in that source of any marriage of John Snow to Sarah Jackson. remember that Albemarle County was not formed until 1744 and the Buck Mountain section was actually part of Louisa County until 1761. John Snow did not move to Buck Mountain until ca. 1740 and I can find no mention of his marriage in Orange County, where he lived before then and where the land he sold in 1740 mentions Sarah as yielding her dower rights to that land. One of these days we just may find out her maiden name but I think, as of now, the Jackson connection must be highly suspect. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com
