Thankful Cole <This family is carried forward> births of all children<including Joseph> may be found in The Mayflower Descendant, hereinafter refered to as MD MD16:19 <This means vol. 16 page 19.> Joseph's marriage to Thankful Cole appears in MD 19:186 In the marriage he is called Joseph Jr. perhaps being named after his father's brother Joseph, or his grandfather. The term "Jr." did not always mean son of a "senior", sometimes it was a term simply used to seperate similar names by clerks. Source: Mayflower Families Through Five Generations: Descendants of the Pilgrims Who Landed at Plymouth, Mass. December 1620. Volume Six. Family of Stephen Hopkins, by John D. Austin. Publlished by the General Society of Mayflower Descendants. 1992. p. 241 and family carried foward pp 352-353 His line back to Stephen Hopkins is as follows: Joseph Snow (6) Nathaniel (5) Joseph (4-3) Constance (2) Hopkins who m. Nicholas Snow cira 1627 at Plymouth, Stephen (1) Your second Joseph Snow is another Joseph Snow data as follows: seventh son vii Joseph Snow bpt. 14 Sept. 1718, <no birth record as as yet been found> Joseph's baptism record may be found in MD 5:18 which are the records of the Harwich Church. Joseph is linked to his father Edward Snow and his wife Sarah (Freeman) through his father's probate Once again this family is well documented in Mayflower Families Through Five Generations Vol. Six <cited above> pp 81-82. and carried foward on pp 333-334. He married lst Mary Sears and 2nd Phebe Snow. Considerable data with documented sources appear in the text. These book citations are part of the Silver Series which is attempting to document all Mayflower Passengers and publish those findings. I would suggest that anyone with Snow lines back to Constance Hopkins who m. Nicholas Snow included this volume in their library, which can be ordered through the General Society of Mayflower Descendants 4 Winslow Street, Plymouth, MA 02360. Request 2nd edition as it has undergone one revision since being first issued in 1992. Last time I checked it was $35.00. The Silver Series is found in most County or State Genealogy Libraries and often in many local libraries who have large genealogy collections.
